28 weeks pregnant

No bump shot today. But here is an insanely cute picture of my current baby snuggling up to his momma & his future little brother =) He is already so protective of the baby!
How far along? 28 weeks and 2 days.
Total weight gain/measurements: 11 pounds total weight gain. Had my 28 week appointment today! I weigh 145. Up 2 pounds since last time, which is perfect =) I thought for sure I had gained at least another 6 pounds.. haha.
Maternity clothes: I just bought two “sleeping” nursing bras (aka the nursing bras that look like sports bras) and two regular nursing bras. As well as a nursing tank top today from Target. 4 bras and 1 tank top for $100, in my opinion, you can’t beat that! The stuff at Motherhood Maternity was far too expensive for me.
Stretch marks: Nothing significantly more than what I’ve had. Just a few on my right hip area.
Sleep: Oh Snoogle…I have a love hate relationship with you. Well, I guess it’s not your fault that my body is rebellious and can’t help but prefer the right side. I even went so much as switching sides of the bed with my husband (thinking that maybe I just preferred sleeping toward the middle) – nope, I still wanted to sleep on my right side). Such a pain. I am really trying to sleep on my right side though! Other than my position battle, my back and hips just get sore no matter how I sleep.
Best moment this week: Hearing his sweet little heartbeat again at my appointment today. It never gets old =) And having the doctor tell me she loved starting the day out with the perfect pregnant woman made me smile! I’ve had some rough patches, but overall baby is perfectly healthy, I’m measuring perfectly and our heart beats are perfect too!
Miss anything? Again…sleeping comfortably. Sitting comfortably, walking comfortably – let’s add those there, too.
I also miss not being so stressed! They tell you not to stress during your pregnancy, but it’s so very hard not to. I’ve had this intense feeling of unpreparedness and it is so unsettling.
Movement: Moving like crazy still. He has started moving for Daddy, too. Before, my husband would put his hand on my stomach and the baby would just absolutely stop all movement. He also LOVES when we read to him and moves the entire time. He got the hiccups last night, too, first time I’ve noticed it!
Food cravings: Chocolate milk!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Too much sugar still makes me nauseous. Had my glucose test today. And I actually liked the taste of the stuff they gave me to drink (mine was fruit punch – tasted like thick koolaid) but it was just incredibly sweet and I sat in the waiting room trying to hold in my nausea.
Gender: Still a boy.. I hope!
Labour signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Nausea. Acne. This huge belly weighing me down. And hip pain. Oh hip pain…That is just killer.
Belly button in or out? In but it’s practically flat.
Wedding rings on or off? On still. The only swelling I’ve had is my ankles.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy. But again, if I get irritated or someone is rude to me, I have a hard time keeping stuff from flying out of my mouth.. ha.
Looking forward to: Again, getting his nursery finished. Told you I was unprepared! But my big furniture pieces should be coming in this week =)
Going off my feeling of unpreparedness, I had a dream that me and my husband were in snowstorm/tornado natural disaster situation and were completely and totally unprepared. I took this as a sign – my subconscious was telling me to do something about that feeling haha. I’m in the homestretch and barely have a thing done (or at least that’s how I feel).
  • The baby is all set as far as clothes go (we have SO many clothes)
  • We’ve already got the car seat installed into my truck. We traded in my husband’s 11-year-old coupe for a 4-door, 3-year-old sedan (it’s a black 2010 Honda Civic, we couldn’t be happier! For once we agreed on a car…and we got a phenomenal deal). All we need is a car seat base for his car.
  • We need some more newborn disposable diapers, but also I need to stock up on cloth diapers!
  • We have a few things to return and exchange.
  • Got my birth plan worked out for the most part.
  • Need to tour the hospital still (setting this up to do after my appointment in two weeks, so excited!)
  • I put my hospital bag completely together today (doubles as my husband’s bag, too). Need to get baby’s bag completely set up next! We have some things in it but it’s not nearly finished. If you’re wondering, I bought a Retro Metro Bag from Thirty-One…LOVE it so far! And so does my husband…

It’s also very stressful (and I get a bit obsessive sometimes…) to find products and things for my baby that are truly organic, non-toxic, and safe for him. I started reading The Honest Life by Jessica Alba today and I feel like we’re soul sisters. She gets me, haha. It’s a great book! And it has me feeling a lot less frustrated. My biggest issue with companies is their dishonesty and that was her biggest issue as well – hence when she founded her own company, she named it The Honest Company. I hate knowing that companies can throw the words “natural” and “organic” around without truly being so. She also gives some great pointers and recommends a lot of other companies, products, and websites.
That’s all I have today. I’m thinking my next post will be a What’s in My Hospital Bag & Diaper Bag post =)

26 weeks pregnant

How far along? 26 weeks and 5 days…in the homestretch of the 2nd trimester.
Total weight gain/measurements: When I went in for my 24 week appointment, I weighed in at a whopping 143! Which makes a total of 9 pounds of weight gain.
Maternity clothes: I found a few shirts from Burke’s Outlet in town and ended up buying 2 pairs of shorts in a couple sizes up because I couldn’t find maternity shorts I liked.
Stretch marks: I have a little cluster of 2 or 3 stretch marks on my right hip, they aren’t red or purple though.. just a white-ish color. Not too bad!
Sleep: My Snoogle pregnancy pillow is back in action! I bought it a couple months ago, and about a week after having it my dog decided he would love to chew a hole in it. The hole is right by where my head goes. The pillow itself was expensive, but even the covers are expensive (about $30) so I just went without it for a while…well, I decided I NEEDED to use it again, sleeping is pretty uncomfortable for me at night and I always wake up sleeping on my back. I’ve been using it again for about a week (just bought a new cover) and while I still wake up on my back sometimes, it’s less frequent and I am so much more comfortable at night.
Best moment this week: Probably when I abruptly poked my belly and scared the crap out of him.. I could feel him jump and flail like “What the heck mom! I’m sleeping here!”
Miss anything? I miss sleeping more comfortably. But other than that, I am loving this stage of pregnancy except for a few yucky symptoms.
Movement: Sometimes I feel as if he has a lifelong dream of being in the Olympics and has decided to start training while still in the womb. This kid goes nuts. I’ve started doing kick counts (“just for fun” as my OB told me I wouldn’t need to start them until week 28-30ish). Apparently they are suppose to kick 10 times in max 2 hours. The first day I did it, he reached his 10 kicks in 4 minutes. The second time, 3 minutes. And they usually aren’t just little jabs or flutters.. they are full on uppercuts and big body movements. The ultrasound tech told me I had a squirmy one inside me, she was right!
Food cravings: Nothing terribly specific. I just like to eat a lot 🙂
Anything making you queasy or sick? Ugh…nausea has not been my friend. I’ve noticed that if I have too much sugar, I am so so queasy. Also, because baby is getting bigger and womb space is limited, sometimes the pressure makes me very ill. Daddy was pressing on my belly about a week ago, which never bothers me at all, but when he pressed a certain spot (and pressed right where baby was) I felt like I needed to puke right there. Cute, huh?
Gender: Still a boy.. I hope!
Labour signs: Nope. I had Braxton hicks about a month ago a couple times and haven’t had them since.
Symptoms: Nausea! Shortness of breath. Acne. A bit of ankle swelling, which is a given considering I stand at work all day.
Belly button in or out? In but it’s practically flat.
Wedding rings on or off? On. The only swelling I’ve had is my ankles.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy but don’t get on my nerves! I have a really short fuse when it comes to rude people and my big mouth might get me into trouble..
Looking forward to: Getting his nursery all set up. I’ve changed my mind about a dozen times on the theme, color, etc. And I think I’ve finally decided on exactly what I want. 🙂 I’m also looking forward to starting his book collection because if he’s going to inherit ANYTHING from me, I hope it’s a love for books!
